Connected Account Data, Freshness, and Reconnecting Accounts
Finn’s guidance is strongest when the relevant accounts are connected and current. An account connection can occasionally need attention because an institution requires reauthorization, changes its connection flow, or has not yet completed an update.
What a connection status can mean
- An active account is available for the financial picture Finn uses for analysis.
- An account that needs reconnection may still show its last known information, but it should be treated carefully for time-sensitive decisions.
- An account with no available data does not contribute a balance or holdings until the connection is restored.
When to verify before acting
If you just linked an account, transferred money, placed an order, or need a current balance for a decision, confirm that the account data is current. Account balances and holdings can reflect institution timing, settlement, and connection-update cycles.
Reconnecting does not change your institution
Reconnecting an account renews the information connection you authorized. It does not move money, change an account at the institution, or create blanket action permission for Finn.
Common questions
- Why does Finn ask me to reconnect an account?
- Your institution or connection provider may require renewed authorization, or the existing connection may need attention before current data can be retrieved.
- Can I use an account that needs reconnection for a time-sensitive decision?
- Finn may retain last known information, but you should reconnect and verify the current data before relying on it for a time-sensitive decision.
- How do I know whether account data is current?
- Finn can indicate when an account needs reconnection or attention. For a time-sensitive decision, verify the latest balance, holdings, or action detail after the connection is current.
- Why can a recently linked account take time to appear?
- Institutions and connection providers can require time to complete an update, retrieve balances, holdings, or transactions, and reflect them in Finn.
- Does reconnecting an account give Finn more authority?
- No. Reconnecting renews an information connection. It does not authorize Finn to take blanket financial actions in the account.
- Can an account with stale data still be visible?
- Finn may retain last known account information, but it should be treated carefully and not relied on for a time-sensitive decision until the account is current.
- What should I do if I cannot reconnect an account?
- Try the secure connection flow again and contact Finn support if the issue persists. Finn can still help with the information currently available, but a reconnect may be needed for current analysis.
