Automations and Financial Tasks With Finn

A Finn task is more than a single action in a chat. It is a way to organize a financial routine: review the relevant information, work through the next steps, and keep you involved whenever money could move or an order could be placed.

How Finn works

What a financial task can do

  1. 01

    Start at the right time

A task can be a one-time request, start immediately, or follow a schedule for a recurring routine.

  2. 02

    Work through the decision

It can gather the information needed for the task, evaluate the result against the criteria you set, and continue through multiple steps.

  3. 03

    Pause for your decision

When a task reaches an eligible trade, transfer, deposit, withdrawal, or investment-plan purchase, Finn asks you to review and approve it before submission.

  4. 04

    Keep you informed

Finn can notify you about a task that needs your attention and show its progress as it moves through its steps.

A connected account is not blanket permission

Availability is not the same for every account. It can depend on the connected institution, account type, asset, order type, and the action you want to take. Finn checks those details before presenting an eligible step, and a connection does not give Finn open-ended authority to move money or place trades.

Tasks can be multi-step, but money moves still need approval

For example, a recurring investing routine can review the intended allocation and prepare an eligible purchase. A task can also wait for a preceding step to finish before moving on. Finn does not submit a high-friction financial action merely because it appears in a scheduled task: it pauses for your explicit approval.

Guidance when a step is unavailable

Some connected accounts are available for analysis but not for a particular action. In those cases, Finn can still explain the next step and help you complete it at the institution you already use.
