Approvals and Safeguards for Finn Financial Tasks
Finn is designed to help you follow through without making an account connection or a saved task into blanket authority. Before an eligible trade, transfer, deposit, withdrawal, or investment-plan purchase is submitted, Finn asks you to review and approve the step.
How Finn works
How a protected financial step works
- 01
Confirm what the step is
Finn identifies the proposed action and the account, investment, amount, or other details relevant to it.
- 02
Check whether it is eligible
Availability depends on the institution, connected account, asset, order type, and requested action.
- 03
Ask for your approval
If the step is available, Finn pauses the task and presents the action for your explicit review before it is submitted.
- 04
Show what happened next
Finn can notify you when a task needs attention and show whether it is waiting, complete, paused, or still progressing.
Approval is specific, not general
Approving one action does not authorize a different one. If the account, amount, investment, or action changes, Finn should present the new step for its own review. If multiple accounts could support an action, Finn should let you choose rather than silently selecting one.
Common questions
- Will Finn execute a scheduled trade or transfer without asking?
- No. A scheduled task can prepare an eligible financial step, but Finn asks for your explicit approval before submission.
- Does connecting an account let Finn move money whenever it wants?
- No. An account connection supports analysis and any specifically available task steps; it does not grant blanket authority to move money or place trades.
- Which actions require approval?
- Finn asks for approval before it submits eligible high-friction financial steps such as trades, transfers, deposits, withdrawals, and investment-plan purchases.
- Will Finn notify me when a task needs approval?
- Finn can notify you when a task needs your attention, so you can review the proposed step before deciding whether to approve it.
- Can I change my mind after reviewing a task action?
- You can decline an action that is awaiting your approval. Once an action has been submitted, its timing and cancellation depend on the underlying institution or provider.
- Does an approval apply to a later action too?
- No. Approval is specific to the action presented for review. A new or changed financial action needs its own review and approval.
- What if more than one account can support an action?
- Finn should let you choose the account, rather than silently choosing one for you, unless you have already specified the account to use.
